Peace Education Network Conference
November 7th, 2009The Peace Education Network brings together education practitioners and others committed to promoting Education for Peace in schools and the wider community.
The Network organizes an Annual Conference and coordinates approaches to curriculum development. It also promotes the effective distribution of Education for Peace resources and hosts the online PEN Resource Catalogue.
The member groups of the Peace Education Network produce educational resources, hold workshops, provide speakers, advice and training and hold a range of peace education events in the UK.
Within the Network there are a variety of approaches and different groups focus on different areas. Some are national groups, others are regional; some groups are secular, others are faith-based; some focus on international issues, others on interpersonal and community relationships.
The event will take place at Coventry University – More details about the event will soon be released on the PEN website, which can be found at http://www.peaceeducation.org.uk.

‘Visions of Peace’ DVD
October 8th, 2009This half-hour long video – made by and for Quakers – is now available on DVD. It is a collage of interviews with Friends talking about the inspiration and motivation for their peace work, the challenges involved in such work and their understanding of the peace testimony. Although made in 1994, it has very little in it that is specifically linked to its time of production (mostly the fashion in glasses!) and groups do still find it useful. Contact Philip Austin at the Northern Friends Peace Board (Victoria Hall, Knowsley St, Bolton BL1 2AS; 0845 458 3095; email nfpb@gn.apc.org for your copy.
